Bangladesh register an historic win

Fifth ODI cricket match of the series was played between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Bangladesh have shown some good performances in the tournament. They have already won the series by winning 3 matches and are leading the series by 3-0. One more match to go, this is an issue of prestige for the Kiwis as being one of the top teams in the world which is now getting dominated by an lower ranked team. They were looking to win this match atleast. Fifth ODI Match was played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The toss went in to the favor of the Bangladesh team and they chose to bat first.

Right from the start Bangladesh was struggling to score runs and they were loosing wickets in regular intervals. No on stayed long at the crease. New Zealand were on high as they took wickets in regular intervals and did not let the Bangladesh team to score a big total. By 44.2 overs, Bangladesh finally lost its 10th wicket and ended up scoring only 174 runs. After seeing this total, it was not an big challenge for the Kiwis as this was an easily gettable score for them.

New Zealand needed 175 runs to win with 50 overs and 10 wickets on hand. After a very good start, Brendon McCullum got out in the 8th delivery of their batting innings. New Zealand lost its first wicket when its total was just 8 runs. After the fall of the first wicket, it lost 4 more wickets which led to a panic situation. New Zealand's total score was just 20 runs with the loss of 5 wickets (20/5). After this, Daniel Vettori and Grant Elliott put up a partnership of 86 runs which was much needed and gave Kiwis a hope of winning. but the duo fell and Kiwis were again in trouble untill Kyle Mills came in to bat. He batted magnificently till the end. Kiwis needed 8 runs to win the match with 6 balls in hand and one wicket remaining. In the very first ball of the over, Mills hit an 4 which gave full hope to the Kiwis. They were in need of just 4 runs with 5 deliveries in hand. Next ball resulted in no run thereby making 4 for 4. But Rubel Hossain bowled an york where Mills could not block and he was bowled out. Bangladesh won the match by 3 runs.

 This was an historic for the Bangladesh as they clean sweeped the series for the first time in history. They won the series by 4-0. Man of the match was Rubel Hossain and Man of the Series was Shakib Al Hasan

2nd test match: India vs Australia

Yesterday was one of the glorious moment for the Indians won the test series against the Australians by 2-0. On the day 5, Australia had 3 wickets on hand to end its second batting innings. Zaheer Khan bowled an in-swing that which hit the stumps and Mitchell Johnson got out. Another 6 runs were added before Australia lost all its 10th wicket before lunch and ended up scoring 223 runs in the second innings (223/10).

India needed 207 runs to win the match and win the test series. Virender Sehwag got out when reached 7 runs and India lost its first wicket when the total score was just 17 runs. This seemed to be a bad start for the Indians as they lost Virender Sehwag in the early condition. The new entry to the team Cheteshwar Pujara came in to bat partnering Murali Vijay and they both put up a partnership of 62 runs. After the fall of Murali Vijay, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar who is in form came in to bat and put up a very good partnership of 57 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara made his debut half century and scored 72 runs before being sent back to the pavilion by Nathan Hauritz. The Wall, Rahul Dravid came in to bat partnering Sachin Tendulkar and both played till the end putting up a partnership of 61 runs. Sachin Tendulkar completed half century and scored 53 runs.  

India scored a total of 207 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and won the match by 7 wickets. India won the series by clean sweeping Australians by 2-0. Man of the match and the Man of the series award went to Sachin Tendulkar.

2nd test match: India vs Australia

On the fourth day, India finally ended up its first batting innings with a total of 495 runs loosing all 10 wickets. At the start of the day, India were 435/5 with Sachin Tendulkar batting on 191 and MS Dhoni on the crease. Sachin Tendulkar scored his sixth double century of the test career. Finally, Peter George an new entry for the Australian team claimed Sachin Tendulkar's wicket. India lost its 6th wicket when it reached 486 runs in total. After the fall of the master blaster, India lost remaining 4 wickets adding only 9 runs to the total. India in the first innings managed to score only 495 runs in total (495/10). India were leading Australia by 17 runs in the first innings.

Soon, Australia started their second innings with the openers Shane Watson and Simon Katich. First wicket partnership resulted in 58 runs. At this point, Australia lost its openers. Ricky Ponting took the charge and started to play well with the support of Michael Hussey and Tim Paine. He scored his half century and departed when their total was 181 runs. Ricky Ponting was the 6th wicket to fall for Australia. He scored 72 runs in 117 deliveries which included 7 fours and a six. Indians by the before the end of the day managed to take one more wicket who was Tim Paine. At the end of the fourth day, Australia have scored 202 runs with the loss of 7 wickets (202/7). Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Hauritz are still batting with a score of 7 runs and 8 runs. Australia is leading India by 185 runs in the second innings.

ODI cricket: Bangladesh vs New Zealand

Today, Bangladesh made an remarkable history by winning an ODI cricket match against New Zealand team. New Zealand team is one of the top teams in the world and they are playing extremely well from last few years. Bangladesh played New Zealand at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Bangladesh team won the toss and they decided to field first.

Brendon McCullum and Jesse Ryder opened the batting innings for the New Zealand team. In the very first over, Brendon McCullum returned back to pavilion without scoring any run. New Zealand lost its first wicket with 0 run on board. Once New Zealand lost its second wicket, it started to loose wickets in regular fashion. Ross Taylor and Kyle Mills put up a good partnership that helped the team to end up with a decent total. By 42.5 overs, it lost all 10 wickets and ended up scoring only 173 runs (173/10). Ross Taylor was unbeaten with a score of 62 runs in 72 deliveries that included 3 fours and 4 sixes. Suhrawadi Shuvo was the highlight for Bangladesh team as he picked up 3 crucial wickets with an economy rate of only 1.4 runs per over.

Bangladesh needed 174 runs to win the match with 50 overs to go and 10 wickets on hand. This is the chance for them to win a match as they have been loosing matches from past couple of years. Imrul Kayes and Shahriar Nafees started the batting innings for the team. They both gave a clean start and played well to put up a partnership of 127 runs. This partnership helped the team a lot boosting confidence in the batting line up and reducing the pressure. Bangladesh by 40 overs successfully chased the target and won the match by 7 wickets. In 40 overs, they made a total of 177 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. (177/3). Imrul Kayes scored 50 runs and Shahriar Nafees scored 73 runs.  

Man of the match award went to Suhrawadi Shuvo for his beautiful bowling figure that helped the team to win the match.

2nd ODI match: Kenya vs Afghanistan

Yesterday, Kenya and Afghanistan played their second ODI cricket match at Nairobi Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi. In the very first match of the series, Kenya won the match and are leading the series by 1-0. As in the first match, again Kenya won the toss and they selected to bat first.

Again a slow and poor start was given by the Kenyan openers Seren Waters and David Obuya. First wicket fell when they reached only 14 runs in total. For the second wicket, there was an 31 runs partnership and were on good track. Once the second wicket fell, their run rate dropped lower and lower and they started to loose wickets in regular intervals. By 41 overs, they lost all the 10 wickets and ended up putting up a total score of 139 runs (139/10). Samiullah Shinwari took 3 wickets with an economy rate og just 2.9 runs per over.

Afghanistan needed 140 runs to win the match in 50 overs. This total is a gettable one, but in the last match Afghanistan made only 88 runs in total. So based on the previous result, the match was unpredictable. Noor Ali and Karim Sadiq opened the batting innings for the Afghan team. Noor Ali returned to the pavilion because he got injured while batting. Mohammad Shahzad came in to bat and stayed for some time and also some runs to the total. When Afghanistan lost 3 wickets, Asghar Salamkhail  came in to bat where stood till the end of the innings and played well to reach the target successfully. He remained unbeaten scoring 55 runs from 62 deliveries that included 6 fours and 3 sixes. By 27 overs, Afghanistan team managed to score a total of 143 runs with the loss of 4 wickets (143/4). Afghanistan won the match by 6 wickets.

2nd test match: India vs Australia

The first test cricket match between India and Australia was played at Mohali where India won the match by 1 wicket. It was an very close match, where India was struggling after loosing 8 wickets at early stage itself. Later a big partnership between VVS Laxman and Ishant Sharma helped the team to get very close. Even then, Australians managed to take Sharma's wicket but failed to remove Pragyan Ojha. Some how Indians managed to win the match. Now India is leading the series by 1-0.

Second test match started today at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Australia won the toss and they elected to bat first.

Shane Watson and Simon Katich opened the batting innings for the Australia. As usual they both started off well and put up a very good partnership of 99 runs. After the breakage of the first wicket, Indians were back on track thereby picking up another 2 wickets quickly. Ricky Ponting and Michael Hussey showed some resistance and help the Australian team. On day one, Australia ended up scoring 285 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Ricky Ponting was the highest run getter of the day who scored 77 runs from 147 deliveries that included 12 fours with no six. Harbhajan Singh took 2 wickets. Marcus North is still on the crease with 43 being scored and Tim Paine with 8 runs.

Twenty20 Cricket: Zimbabwe vs South Africa

A twenty-20 cricket match was played yesterday between South Africa and Zimbabwe at OUTsurance Oval, Bloemfontein, South Africa. The toss went into the favor of Zimbabwe team and they decided to bat first.

Hamilton Masakadza and Brendan Taylor were the openers for the Zimbabwe and started the batting innings for the team. Brendan Taylor was back to the pavilion without scoring a single run by getting lbw in Wayne Parnell's delivery. Chamu Chibhabha teamed up with Hamilton Masakadza and put up a partnership of 76 runs. Chamu Chibhabha departed after scoring 52 runs from 32 deliveries that included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Hamilton Masakadza got out as the fourth wicket fell for Zimbabwe. He scored 72 runs from 63 deliveries that included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Finally Zimbabwe landed up scoring 168 runs from 20 overs with the loss of just 4 wickets.


South Africa needed 169 runs to win the match. Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman opened the batting innings for SA. They both started of very well till the break of their partnership, team's run rate was above 12 runs per over. Loots Bosman was the first wicket to fall and soon Graeme Smith followed him. By 15.5 overs, South Africa managed to reach the target. South Africa scored 169 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. Graeme Smith was the highest score in the team. He scored 58 runs from just 29 deliveries that included 9 fours and 2 sixes.  South Africa won the match by 7 wickets.

ODI Cricket: Kenya vs Afghanistan

Yesterday, Afghanistan and Kenya played a One-Day International cricket match at Nairobi Gymkhana Club Ground, Nairobi, Kenya. Toss went into the favor of the Kenya team and they chose to bat first.

Seren Waters and David Obuya started the batting innings for the Kenya team. They both gave an very slow but an steady start and put up an partnership of 55 runs from 16.2 overs. After the fall of the first wicket who was David Obuya, Seren Waters also followed him and returned back to the pavilion. After the loss of 2 wickets, There came another partnership of 77 runs which helped the team to look in good position. After the fall of the 3rd wicket, 5 wickets fell in just 6 runs. By 38.1 overs, Kenya was 145/8. A partnership of 35 runs between Jimmy Kamande and James Otieno helped the team to put up some decent total. By, 46.2 overs, Kenya lost all its 10 wickets and ended up scoring 180 runs in total. Steve Tikolo was the top scorer for the Kenya team who scored 57 runs from 65 deliveries that included 5 fours and a six. Mirwais Ashraf and Hamid Hassan took 4 wickets each.


Afghanistan needed 181 runs to win the match from 50 overs. Karim Sadiq and Noor Ali opened the batting innings for the team. Even they gave an pretty slow start and looked better than Kenya's batting performance at the start. They both shared an partnership of 32 runs. When the first wicket fell, things did not go well to the Afghans as they started to loose wickets regularly that too in quick intervals. But the non-strike opener Noor Ali stayed till the 9th wicket but could not get an very good companion in this particular match and departed scoring 41 runs facing 72 deliveries that included only 4 fours. By 27.5 overs, Afghanistan lost all its 10 wickets and ended up scoring only 88 runs. Nehemiah Odhiambo took 3 wickets but the most economical bowler was James Otieno whose economy rate was just 1.6 runs per over and he also took 2 wickets.

Kenya won the match by 92 runs. Man of the match award went to Steve Tikolo for his magnificent performance shown with bat an ball. He made a magnificent 57 runs and also took a wicket.

1st test match: India vs Australia

Yesterday, Australia started their second batting innings. They started off well with a lead of 23 runs against the Indians. Shane Watson and Simon Katich put up a very good partnership of 87 runs. As the 1st wicket partnership for the Australians went on, the match looked like as if it will end with a draw. After the fall of their first wicket, Australians kept on loosing wickets. In-fact the wicket falling rate was getting reduced as they started to loose wickets quickly. Apart from the first wicket partnership, there was no other partnership played from the Australians side. Before tea, Australia lost all its wickets and ended up its second batting innings with a total of 192 runs. All the bowlers who bowled in this innings from India took wickets. Harbhajan Singh was very economical bowler as his economy rate was just 1.73 runs per over and also took 2 wickets.

India needed 215 runs to win the match with a day and one session in hand. India started off their batting play very badly as Indian opener Gautam Gambhir got out in the very first over and returned to pavilion without scoring any run. Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag's partnership did not last long as it was broken. By the end of 4th day, India lost 4 wickets and were in deep trouble.

On day 5, India was completely dependent on Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. But Sachin Tendulkar could not stay for longer time as he departed after scoring 38 runs. India was in trouble when they lost their 8th wicket when they reached only 124 runs. Later VVS Laxman and Ishant Sharma added some resistance and put up a very good and much required partnership of 81 runs. This added some runs to the total, but after this Ishant Sharma fell leaving VVS Laxman to fight the battle by himself. India needed 21 runs with one wicket on hand. But Pragyan Ojha played beautifully and supported VVS Laxman who completed the task successfully. OMG!! it was an nail biting match, finally Indians were victorious. India scored 226 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. Thanks to VVS Laxman who proved that he an reliable batsman in the test cricket. India won the match by 1 wicket. Zaheer Khan became man of the match.

1st test match: India vs Australia day 3

Yesterday, Australia lost its remaining wickets and ended up scoring a total score of 428 runs. Shane Watson was the top scorer who had score 126 runs 338 deliveries that included 10 fours and no sixes. Another batsmen who helped the team to put up this good total was Tim Paine. He played a magnificent knock of 92 runs from 196 runs that included 12 fours with no sixes. Zaheer Khan took 5 important wickets for India.

India soon opened their first innings with the openers Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. They both started off well with the bat and put up a partnership of 81 runs. By the end of the day, Mitchell Johnson came up with another blow who took the wicket of the most dangerous batsman i.e, Virender Sehwag. Play was called off and India ended up on day 2 scoring 110 runs with the loss of 2 wickets. Rahul Dravid was not out with a score of 23 runs and Ishant Sharma with 0.

On Day 3, they both put up a partnership of 45 runs before Sharma fell for Doug Bollinger. There was some good play in the middle order. Sachin Tendulkar played well with Suresh Raina. They both departed to pavilion and failed to get a century. Sachin Tendulkar got out after scoring a good score of 98 runs and Suresh Raina departed after scoring 83 runs. After the breakage of this good partnership, Indians wall was broken down into pieces. They soon lost its remaining 5 wickets in a very quick interval. At the end of the Day, Australia managed to take all the 10 wickets. India landed up scoring 405 in their first innings thereby Australia leading India by 23 runs. Mitchell Johnson took 5 wickets that helped them to sweep the Indian team and get the lead.

1st test match: India vs Australia

First test cricket match between India and Australia started yesterday at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali. The toss went into the favor of Australia and the chose to bat first.

Shane Watson and Simon Katich started the batting innings for the Australian side. Simon Katich did stay for longer period as he returned to the pavilion by getting lbw in Zaheer Khan's delivery. At that point of time, Australia has scored only 13 runs in total in 4.2 over. Ricky Ponting came in to bat and teamed up with Shane Watson to put up a very good partnership of 141 runs. Ricky Ponting departed after scoring 71 runs from 124 deliveries. He got run out which was hit by Suresh Raina. This gave an shy of relief for the Indians as they finally broke out an very good partnership. Later this breakup, Indians started to be back on track as they started to build pressure on the Aussies. Australia lost 3 more wickets and its total score was 222 runs on board. By the end of the day, Australia managed to put up a total score of 224 runs with the loss of 5 wickets. Zaheer Khan took 3 wickets but Pragyan Ojha was the most successful bowler for today as his economical rate was just 1.25 runs per over in 31 overs. Shane Watson was unbeaten scoring 101 runs from 279 deliveries that included 8 fours.
