India vs Srilanka

Today India played their 2nd ODI of the tri-series against Srilanka at Queen's Sports Club, Bulawayo. Indians after their unbelievable defeat against the Zimbabwe in their 1st ODI, they are playing against Srilanka who are their past rival. At the super eight match in World Twenty20, Srilankan's stunned India by winning the match & putting India out of the series. Now its time for India to pay them.

India won the toss & let the Srilankan's to bat first. Upul Tharanga & Tillakaratne Dilshan opened the batting innings for Srilanka. Upul Tharanga did not survive for longer period. Dilshan played beautifully & scored 61 runs before his run out which was hit by Rohit Sharma. Later, Angelo Mathews took the responsibility & contributed 75 runs to the team which helped Srilanka to put up a decent total of 242 runs. Srilanka lost all 10 wickets in 49.5 overs scoring 242 runs at a run rate of 4.86 runs per over.
This total is not a huge one for India, but looks pretty decent until they loose some quick wickets. Indians need 243 runs in 50 overs to win the match against Srilanka.

Dinesh Karthik & Murali Vijay started the chase for India, but they both were unsuccessful as they got out & walked back to pavillion. This seems to be a bad sign for India as it has lost its openers. Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli played a decent innings & contributed a good partnership. Both played well & scored half centuries individually. This helped India a lot to go into positive track.

South Africa won the match against West Indies in the 2nd ODI

Hi friends, good morning to all of you. Yesterday night i had posted only the first innings of South Africa. South Africa had scored 300 runs loosing 5 wickets. West Indies went down to chase the score with openers Chris Gayle & Dale Richards opening the batting innings for their side.

West Indies gave a slow start where their asking rate was above the current run rate. Chris Gayle got out when he had scored only 26 runs & Ramnaresh Sarwan went back to pavillion as he had got retired out. Their was one good partnership which was between Kieron Pollard & Dwayne Bravo. After this they were loosing wickets in a very regular fashion. Ramnaresh Sarwan was back when West Indies lost their 7th wicket & hopes were almost gone. But he played just one delivery & got out. There a quick fire from Darren Sammy who scored 58 runs from just 24 deliveries which included 2 fours & 6 sixes. Again West Indies hopes were high , but this did not happen as they lost their last 3 wickets in run outs only. This was unwanted loss for West Indies, in 48.1 overs they scored 283 runs & lost all 10 wickets. Darren Sammy was not out scoring 58 runs.

Hence, South Africa won the 2nd ODI match by 17 runs. 3rd ODI will be played on 28th of May.

South Africa vs West Indies : 2nd ODI

South Africa played West Indies their 2nd ODI of the tour to WI at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, St Peter's, Antigua. South Africa won the toss & elected to bat first.

Graeme Smith & Hashim Amla both played well & built up their 1st wicket partnership of 89 runs which helped South Africa to go on the positive track. 2nd Wicket partnership between Hashim Amla & Jacques Kallis was also too good. Hashim Amla got out scoring 92 runs in 95 deliveries, SA at this point of time lost their 2nd wicket. Further Kallis partnered with AB de Villiers to build another useful partnership. After the fall of Villiers & Kallis, there were no big partnerships as the overs were very less. South Africa had scored 300 runs in 50 overs loosing 5 wickets. Jacques Kallis was the 2nd top scorer for the team scoring 85 runs from 89 deliveries. Kieron Pollard was an impressive bowler from WI, as his economy rate was just 4.87 runs per over & had took 2 dangerous wickets. They were Jacques Kallis & AB de Villiers, both were well set in batting as they had scored 85 & 41 runs respectively.

Now the pressure is on West Indies side, they have to hunt down the target of 301 set by RSA. Chris Gayle & Dale Richards opened the batting for WI.

These were the updates from my side. Now i am feeling sleepy, so ill post the remaining match summary in the morning. see you friends, good night :-)

Ajmal wants to take revenge on Michael Hussey

Latest cricket buzz is that Pakistan's off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has made a vow that he will take revenge on Hussey. In the second semi-finals of ICC Twenty20 World Cup, Australia won the match against Pakistan with 1 ball remaining.

Michael Hussey who was the player of the match helped Aussies to win the match. Aussies wanted 18 runs in the last over, which was almost impossible. Saeed Ajmal had bowled the last over, First delivery resulted in just 1 run. This was a great start for Pakistan as Aussies wanted 17 runs in 5 delivers. But Michael Hussey did not let the Australian team down, he fought too well till the end, in the next 4 deliveries he scored 22 runs. The over score display was like this 1 6 6 4 6, Aussies had more 1 delivery in spare. It was supposed to be the worst-est day for Saeed Ajmal & a very lucky day for Aussies.

Now, Saeed Ajmal is pretty confident that he will have his revenge by taking the wicket of Michael Hussey in the forth coming matches.

England clinch ICC World Twenty20 Cup 2010

On Sunday, England played Australia in the ICC World Twenty20 Cup 2010 finals. England so far have never & ever won any kind of ICC tournaments till Sunday. This was supposed to be the 2nd match for them to enter into a ICC finals of any kind. On the other side, Australia have also not won a ICC World Twenty20 Cup till date. So it was a must win match for both of them.

But Australians could not stand before England. They outplayed Australia right from the start of the match. Loss of earlier wicket on Australians side was the key to success for the England. They restricted Australia to just 147 runs in 20 overs. Though England lost Michael Lumb in the early stage, Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen hit a magnificent 63 & 47 runs respectively. England chased down the target successfully in just 17 overs with 18 balls in spare. Now England's dream has come true, as they have won their first ICC trophy & have created an history.

I am an die hard fan of India, but India didn't even enter semis. Australia has already won 4 world cups & look very strong at the moment.
But England had never won any kind of World Cup so i supported England. Now i am happy for England winning the world cup :)

ICC World Twenty20 Cup Finals today

Australians after an unbelievable last moment victory against the Pakistan in the 2nd Semi-finals, will be playing ICC World Twenty Cup finals today. They will be facing England at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown - Barbados.

Australians had won all the matches in the Twenty20 2010 till date, on the other side even England are in the same position. Both are looking forward to win the cup this time. Neither Australia nor England have entered the World Twenty20 Cup till last year. Australia have won 4 ICC world cups till now, but have not lifted any World Twenty20 Cup. On the other hand, England till now have entered only 2 ICC final events. They have to yet open an account in ICC history & this match be a real challenge for them as they will be facing the toughest team in the world.

Australians have good bowlers like Dirk Nannes, Shaun Tait and Mitchell Johnson who can restrict the Englands batting attack. Similarly, even England has Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom and Tim Bresnan who can give equal fight as of Australians.
If Michael Hussey is the Ace card for Australia then Kevin Pietersen is for England. David Warner and Shane Watson are dangerous openers for Australia, similarly Craig Kieswetter and Michael Lumb are good openers & both are in good form on England side.
So this shows, Both the teams are well balanced & are neck to neck. If personally prefer that this will be an very interesting match as the top 2 teams in this World Twenty20 Cup 2010 will be facing each other.

Mahela Jayawardene & Sanath Jayasuriya did not play for longer duration as they both were out in the 1st & 2nd over respectively. Dilshan, Sangakkara, Mathews & Kapugedara contibuted some good knocks which helped Srilanka to enter the semi-finals. India did not win even a single match in the super eight matches. According to me they showed poor performance because of the poor captaincy.
