Delhi won their first IPL match of the season

Today, Delhi Daredevils took over Pune Warriors India at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Toss was won by Virender Sehwag and they chose to field first.

Jesse Ryder and Graeme Smith opened the batting innings for the PWI. The start good but not an aggressive one though. The big man Graeme Smith in the last delivery of the fourth over. Jesse Ryder played an magnificent and so did the skipper Yuvaraj Singh. Jesse Ryder departed scoring 60 runs in just 27 deliveries that included 5 fours and 5 sixes. In the 20th over, Yuvaraj Singh did the real damage for the Delhi Daredevils. He scored 3 consecutive sixes in the last 3 deliveries. He remained unbeaten scoring 66 runs from 33 balls that included 4 fours and 5 sixes. In 20 overs, PWI managed to put up a total score of 187 runs loosing 5 wickets (PWI - 187/5, 20 over).

So far DD have not won a single match in this season and this score was a pretty big total for them as well. David Warner and Virender Sehwag started the innings off. They both played well and were belting the bowlers in every angle they could. First wicket partnership was worth 75 runs in just 7 overs. David Warner was the first wicket to fall and soon skipper Sehwag followed him. After this fall, another 3 more wickets fell very quickly and the hopes kept on fading out as the wicket started to fall. Venugopal Rao and Aaron Finch played well and eased the pressure off by hitting 3 sixes and 2 sixes respectively. But they both did not stay till the end. It was James Hopes in which the hopes for the Delhi Daredevils was back. He just utilized the opportunity and scored a magnificent runs in just 4 balls and won the match for Delhi Daredevils with 4 deliveries to spare. Delhi Daredevils scored 190 runs in 19.2 overs and lost 7 wickets (DD - 190/7, 19.2 over). Yuvaraj Singh took 4 important wickets for PWI.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 3 wickets. Man of the match was Yuvaraj Singh for his magnificent performance with bat and ball.

Pakistan vs Australia: 1st Twenty20 international

Yesterday Australia and Pakistan played their first Twenty20 cricket match at Edgbaston, Birmingham, England. Pakistan won the toss & elected to bat first.

Shahzaib Hasan was out in the very first ball of his batting innings. Salman Butt faced 21 deliveries and scored just 13 runs and then got out in David Hussey's over. Three wickets fell from 6.4 over to 7.4 over. At this point of time, Pakistan had scored 47 runs from 7.4 overs. Shahid Afridi failed to hit big, as he was duck out by getting bowled in the Steven Smith's over. Umar Akmal played magnificently scoring 64 runs from just 31 deliveries which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. This helped Pakistan to put up a decent total against the Australians. After 20 overs, Pakistan scored a total of 167 runs loosing 8 wickets.

Australia needed 168 runs to win the Twenty20 match. Shane Watson did not score a single run as he got out in the last delivery of the first over. Australians kept on loosing wickets in regular intervals. David Warner survived for some time, but there was no good partnership from Australian side. After the fall of their sixth wicket, they started to struggle a lot just to add a run to their total. By 18.4 overs, Australia lost all its 10 wickets and ended up scoring 144 runs in total. Pakistan won the match by 23 runs. Man of the match was Umar Akmal for his magnificent 64 runs from just 31 deliveries.

Zimbabwe stuns Australia by winning the warm up match

Today 3 matches were played as an warm up for World Twenty20 cup. World Twenty20 cup will be starting from 30th of April in West Indies.

Zimbabwe played their warm up match against Australia at St Lucia. Zimbabwe stunned Australia, winning the match by 1 runs. Batting first, Zimbabwe put up a total of 173-7 in 20 overs. Elton Chigumbara hit a massive 76 runs from just 33 deliveries. In reply, Australia played magnificently with the help of David Warner who hit 72 runs. But they failed to score 2 runs to become victorious there by loosing the match to Zimbabwe by 1 runs. Wow!! what a start from Zimbabwe in this season as they have stunned one of the best team in the world.

 Second match was played between New Zealand & Ireland. Kiwis batted first & made a magnificient 187 runs loosing 5 wickets off 20 overs. In reply, Ireland could score only 147 runs off 20 overs. Top performer was Jesse Ryder who played spectacularly scoring 60 runs from just 30 deliveries.


Third match was between Bangladesh & Barbados XI which was played in the afternoon. Bangla boys won the match by 36 runs which has increased their confidence. They scored 166 runs loosing 6 wickets off 20 overs. Chasing the target, Barbados could score only 130.

Also, Pakistan had won the opening warm-up game against Windward Islands XI where they had the match comfortably by 68 runs.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 37 runs

Delhi Daredevils played their home match against the visitors Royal Challengers Bangalore today at Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi Daredevils won the toss & elected to bat first.
Opening their innings, Delhi Daredevils gave a ferocious start from the openers David Warner & Virender Sehwag. They played brilliantly right from the beginning but they lost Virender Sehwag & Gautam Gambhir in quick succession. But Paul Collingwood was the one who broke Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling skills, he scored 75 runs in 46 balls which included 3 fours & 7 sixes which helped the Delhi Daredevils to put up a total score of 184 runs loosing 5 wickets in 20 overs. David warner scored 33 runs 22 balls & David Warner scored 35 runs in 22 balls, both hit 2 sixes. Kotarangada Appanna was the economical bowler for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he bowled 4 overs with an economy rate of 6 runs per over & took one wicket.
Royal Challengers Bangalore started their chase of 185 runs with openers Cameron White & Jacques Kallis opening the innings. They started well, but the run rate was lower than the asking rate right from the beginning of their innings. First wicket fell in the 4th over, it was Cameron White who had scored 4 runs in 11 deliveries. Royal Challengers Bangalore started to loose wickets regularly & the asking rate started to increase. Players were forced to hit the ball as the asking rate was kept on increasing which resulted in the loss of wickets. By 20 overs Royal Challengers Bangalore lost 9 wickets & could score only 147 runs, thereby Delhi Daredevils winning the match by 37 runs. RCB's top scorer was Jacques Kallis who scored 54 runs in 42 balls which included 5 fours & a six. Meanwhile Delhi Daredevils economy bowler was Pradeep Sangwan whose economy rate was 5.5 runs per over & had took 3 wickets.
Man of the match was Paul Collingwood for his 75 runs in 46 deliveries. Delhi Daredevils after this win they have moved to the 2nd place in the IPL rankings table, meanwhile Royal Challengers Bangalore have slipped from 2nd place to 3rd place.

Delhi Daredevils won the match against KKR

Today, Delhi Daredevils played their home match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Feroz Shah Kotla. Delhi Daredevils won the toss & elected to bat first.
Delhi started to bat aggressively right from the beginning, they lost 3 quick wickets in first 3 overs. But later on David Warner & Paul Collingwood both put up a partnership of 128 runs. Paul Collingwood got out in 19.2 over scoring 53 runs from 45 balls. David Warner was unbeaten & played throughout the innings & scored his first century in the IPL cricket. He scored 107 runs from 69 deliveries which included 9 fours & 5 sixes. After 20 overs, Delhi Daredevils lost only 4 wickets scoring a total of 177 runs.
Kolkata Knight Riders started their chase of 178, They did not give their start as aggressive as Delhi Daredevils did. They lost 3 wickets in first 5 overs, their run rate started to drop & required rate started to increase. They started to loose wickets on regular basis. By the end of 20 overs Kolkata Knight Riders could score only 137 runs loosing 9 wickets.
Delhi Daredevils won the match by 40 runs. Man of Match was David Warner for his unbeaten Century.

Royals Challengers Bangalore failed to continue their winning spree

Delhi Daredevils visited Bangalore to play a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore today at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore. Skipper Anil Kumble from RCB won the toss & put the visitors to bat first.

Delhi Daredevils gave a magnificent start as team opener, David Warner 33 runs just in 14 deliveries. Later on after loosing couple of wickets, AB de Villiers & Jadhav played brilliantly to put a good total for Delhi Daredevils. Finally Delhi Daredevils landed up with setting a target of 183.

Royal Challengers Bangalore started their innings with the openers Jacques Kallis & Manish Pandey. RCB started off very well playing aggressively until they reached 71 runs, in the 10th over, RCB lost their first wicket, Jacques Kallis. Later on things started to change, RCB started to loose wickets regularly. RCB finally landed up with a score of 166 in 20 overs loosing 9 wickets.

Delhi Daredevils won the match by 17 runs. Skipper Dinesh Karthik will be very happy about his teams performance. Previously Delhi Daredevils had lost 3 successive matches.
