Bangladesh register an historic win

Fifth ODI cricket match of the series was played between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Bangladesh have shown some good performances in the tournament. They have already won the series by winning 3 matches and are leading the series by 3-0. One more match to go, this is an issue of prestige for the Kiwis as being one of the top teams in the world which is now getting dominated by an lower ranked team. They were looking to win this match atleast. Fifth ODI Match was played at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The toss went in to the favor of the Bangladesh team and they chose to bat first.

Right from the start Bangladesh was struggling to score runs and they were loosing wickets in regular intervals. No on stayed long at the crease. New Zealand were on high as they took wickets in regular intervals and did not let the Bangladesh team to score a big total. By 44.2 overs, Bangladesh finally lost its 10th wicket and ended up scoring only 174 runs. After seeing this total, it was not an big challenge for the Kiwis as this was an easily gettable score for them.

New Zealand needed 175 runs to win with 50 overs and 10 wickets on hand. After a very good start, Brendon McCullum got out in the 8th delivery of their batting innings. New Zealand lost its first wicket when its total was just 8 runs. After the fall of the first wicket, it lost 4 more wickets which led to a panic situation. New Zealand's total score was just 20 runs with the loss of 5 wickets (20/5). After this, Daniel Vettori and Grant Elliott put up a partnership of 86 runs which was much needed and gave Kiwis a hope of winning. but the duo fell and Kiwis were again in trouble untill Kyle Mills came in to bat. He batted magnificently till the end. Kiwis needed 8 runs to win the match with 6 balls in hand and one wicket remaining. In the very first ball of the over, Mills hit an 4 which gave full hope to the Kiwis. They were in need of just 4 runs with 5 deliveries in hand. Next ball resulted in no run thereby making 4 for 4. But Rubel Hossain bowled an york where Mills could not block and he was bowled out. Bangladesh won the match by 3 runs.

 This was an historic for the Bangladesh as they clean sweeped the series for the first time in history. They won the series by 4-0. Man of the match was Rubel Hossain and Man of the Series was Shakib Al Hasan
