Airtel Champions League

On Wednesday, IPL champions of the year 2010 Chennai Super Kings won the match against the warriors by 10 runs and entered the semi-finals. It was an very close match where the target given for the Warriors was just 136 runs. Chennai Super Kings failed to put up a very good total in that particular match as the batsmen fail to play well. But the bowlers especially the spinners bowled well in this particular match which helped them to restrict the Warriors to score only 126 runs in total. Due to this victory, Victorian Bushrangers lost their chance of getting into the semi-finals. Both Warriors and Chennai Super Kings have entered into the semi-finals from Group A.

In Group B, Southern Redbacks top the table by winning all the 4 matches and Royal Challengers Banglaore somehow made into the semi-finals after their second victory in this Champions League. Mumbai Indians, Highveld Lions and Royal Challengers all share same 4 points on the table. Due to the net run rate, Royal Challengers Bangalore found their place in the semi-finals. Now Chennai Super Kings from Group A will be facing the Royal Challengers Bangalore from Group B in the semis and Southern Redbacks will be fighting against the Warriors. This is the first time that an IPL team has entered the Champions League semi-finals and more over 2 teams has been entered in one shot. RCB facing CSK will be a very big match as they both are IPL teams. The first semis match between CSK and RCB will be played today at Kingsmead, Durban. The second semis between SRB and WAR will be played tomorrow at Centurion, Tshwane.

By 46.1 over, Srilanka lost all its 10 wickets and scored a total score of 170 runs. Pragyan Ojha took 3 wickets, Praveen Kumar, Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets each. Praveen Kumar was very economical bowler for the day as his economy rate was just 2.5 runs per over.

India needed 171 runs from 50 overs with 10 wickets in hand. First wicket fell when India's total reached 30 runs. It was Dinesh Karthik who gave a simple and straight catch to Nuwan Kulasekara. At this point of time, India was facing a very critical situation as their previous match where they got all out for 88 runs against the New Zealand. That same thing started to repeat. But Virender Sehwag made a change where he stayed till the end of the match and helped the team to come out of this situation. He scored a magnificent unbeaten 99 runs and finished the match with a grand style. India, by 34.3 over chased its target successfully by scoring a total of 171 runs with the loss of 4 wickets. Todays updates on Cricket

Kiwis will be playing against the Srilankans on Friday. Kiwis made a remarkable victory against the Indians on Tuesday. India could score only 88 runs which was the lowest total ever scored against the New Zealand team. After such a great victory, Ross Taylor is pretty confident about his team in winning their second match which will be played against the Srilankans. Srilankans are also equally strong as they have very good bowling line up and a good batting line up.

Munaf Patel is returning back to the Indian team. After a year, he is playing in the team. He was added into the team as Indian bowling department has become very weak as some of the good bowlers like Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Harbhajan Singh, Sreesanth are suffering from injuries. Let us see what he will do to his team in the upcoming match. Next match will be played against the Srilankans on Sunday.

New Zealand gave a poor start as they lost 3 wickets when its total was just 28 runs. Final Test match: India vs Srilanka

Today, India and Srilanka will be playing their final test cricket match of the series. Srilanka is leading the series by 2-0. They won the first test match and second test match was drawn. Spin legend Muttiah Muralidaran took his 800th wicket to set the new test cricket record and finally got retired from the test cricket. In the second test match Lasith Malinga was ruled out due to knee injury. From India, Gautam Gambhir did not play due to the injury.

The final test match will be played at P Sara Oval, Colombo. This match will be more important to the Indians because they have already lost a match. Srilankans look very comfortable after winning the first match. Even if this match ends in draw, Srilankans will win the series for sure. So, India has to win this test match to level the series. India has not won a test series in Srilanka since 1993.

Lasith Malinga is making his comeback in this test match which gives another boost to the Srilankan team. But on Indian side, Gautam Gambhir has already been ruled out. Now, spin wizard Harbhajan Singh will not be playing due to calf injury. This adds another negative impact in the team. Whatever it might be, the play is on. India has to win the match to level the series which is gonna be a tough one according to me.

Srilanka very confident in winning the series against India

Srilanka has already won the first test match which was played against India couple of days back. Muttiah Muralidaran took his 800th wicket in test cricket to be a new world record. This was his last international test cricket match of his career. Muttiah Muralidaran and Lasith Malinga took 15 wickets in the last test match which helped the Srilankans to defeat the Indians very easily. Srilanka lost only 8 wickets in the entire test match where as Indians lost all 10 wickets in both the innings. This was not new for India to loose the first match. It's always happenings, Indians are known to give a poor start in the series.

After the first match victory, Srilankan Captain Kumar Sangakkara is very confident in winning the series. Muttiah Muralidaran will not be playing hence, the key bowler has been ruled out. Even Lasith Malinga will not be playing the second test match due to his knee injury. So there is a double blow for Srilanka, even then Sangakkara is very confident of clinching the series. Ajantha Mendis will be playing instead of Muttiah Muralidaran and Dilhara Fernando will be playing instead of Lasith Malinga.

India has already lost the first match and something must be going inside the Indian skippers mind by now as the key bowlers are not playing in the next test match. Now India has to win the remaining 2 matches in order to win the series or at least win a match and draw a match to draw the series. But, after looking at the batting and bowling performance, i don't have a single percent hope that they will win the series. Only hope for India and me will be Sachin Tendulkar and the wall Rahul Dravid. Second test match will be starting from Monday. Let's wait n watch

Awesome farewell for Legendary Srilankan spinner

Yesterday, India could not resist Srilankan bowling attack as they lost all their wickets just 338 runs in their follow on innings. Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman scored half centuries which helped India to add runs to total so that the innings victory for Srilankans was wiped out. Lasith Malinga and Muttiah Muralidaran took 5 and 3 wickets respectively. India were leading by just 94 runs. Srilanka had half a day left to chase their target which could be easily done having 10 wickets in hand. In 14.1 overs, Srilanka scored 96 runs there by chasing their target successfully. They won by 10 wickets and Tillakaratne Dilshan played a magnificent 68 runs in just 47 deliveries which included 4 fours and a six.

Spin Wizard Muttiah Muralidaran ended his test match career with creating a record of picking 800 wickets in test cricket way ahead of other bowlers in the history. He began his cricket by being a fast bowler and later he turned as spin bowler which became a great twist in his life and career. He went through many controversies regarding his bowling action in 1995 and later which was proved to be a right action. He continued his journey by creating records. Yesterday's match was his last test cricket match of his life. He said that if the Srilankan board wants him to play in coming World Cup he would make himself available. If the board feels that the youngsters need the chance then he always welcomes it.

After the breakage of this partnership, Srilankans easily removed remaining wickets in quick succession thereby restricting Indians to 276 runs in total and took all 10 wickets. India opened their second batting innings due to follow on.

Again Gautam Gambhir did not play well as he got out in the second ball of the innings. Soon followed by Virender Sehwag. 119 runs partnership between Rahul Dravid and Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar helped team India to get some relief. But both departed scoring 44 runs and 84 runs respectively. Yuvaraj Singh too did not bet well in this innings. India are into real trouble now as they have lost 5 wickets. India has to save its wickets for the entire day so that the match can be drawn. At the end of 4th day, India landed up with a score of 181/5.
